On Friday 1 May, the BRPTO (the Brazilian Patent and Trademark Office) extended the Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) Pilot Program to include the The Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS), as per the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) executed between the two institutions on 20 April.
You can access the MOU (in Portuguese) here.
The PPH with Singapore is valid until 30 April 2025 and will cover all technological fields. As mentioned in our previous article regarding the scope of the new PPH program, the PPH in Brazil is currently limited to a maximum of 400 applications per year for all participating offices.
Under the new PPH modal, which started in December 2019, there are already agreements in place with 22 countries.
